In the old days if you wanted to go to Loring you either paddled by canoe, rowed by rowboat or sailed in on a Sailing ship or steamship. Today you can reach Loring Alaska in no time by motor boat or experience a Ravens eye view and fly out in a float plane or paddle by kayak. The possibilities are endless. Loring is located on the Northwest corner of Revillagagedo Island, the same island as Ketchikan. Closest road end is at Settlers Cove State park overlooking Clover pass.

Transportation options to Ketchikan Alaska are either by Sea  Alaska State Ferries or air   Alaska Airlines.

Travel the ancient highways of the Northwest Coast Peoples and pass by the same islands, inlets and bays of the late 18th Century exploreres. By far the best way to travel to Southeast Alaska is by sea on the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry System. Known locally as the Blue Canoes. You can walk or bike on or take your car on the ferry. Cabin rentals are available but book up fast in the summer. You can even sleep under the stars or raindrops in a tent on the back deck of the ferry. The first port of call is Ketchikan, a quick 36 hour ferry ride from Washington. The ferry travels up the East side of Vancouver Island until it reaches the open ocean of Haida Gwaii country and then takes a turn into the beautiful Canadian inside passage. It is a trip of a lifetime. Many Southeast Alaskans take the ferry to and from Alaska.

From the lower 48, Seattle Washington is the closest metropolitan city, only 680 miles away as the raven flies and a 100 minute airplane ride.   Air travel to Southeast Alaska is serviced by only one air carrier Alaska Airlines.  The airlines provides several daily departures from Seattle to Ketchikan. Delta airlines now flies seasonally to Alaska as well.
